The Grade 4 students thought about images and feeling they associated with different colors. We had a carousel brainstorm session and each student read previous groups ideas and added their new ideas.
After all ideas were added the students used these ideas to create a Personification poem about the color.
Here are some of their poems…
Orange is a funny, fruity and juicy boy.
He likes to make an appearance when you are hot and miserable
Or when you are a bit disappointed.
Orange will make you feel joyful.
He will make you calm and think deeply.
He will say “Let’s get active”.
He will ask “What do you really want to do?”
Oranges older sister Amber is also creative and thoughtful.
She will never say “let’s just mess it up”.
Together they will always be bright and enthusiastic.
Green is an adventurous boy who loves nature.
He likes to make an appearance when the environment is healthy.
Or when there are snakes in the jungle.
Green will make you say “lets look after the environment”.
He will make you recycle and be healthy.
He will say “eat your broccoli and cucumbers”.
Green’s brother Leaf is also loves growing and keeping everyone safe.
Together they will fight pollution and sickness.
Green will not say “Thrown you trash on the ground”.
Green will always say “Keep the Earth clean”.
Red is an excited and confident girl.
She likes to make an appearance when you are having an adventure.
Red will make you strong and brave.
Red will help you be passionate and a risk-taker.
Red will say “Don’t be scared, I will help you”.
She will ask “Are you feeling powerful?”
Red’s sister Anger is also strong and can be unthoughtful.
Together they fight ferruginous (rust) and flame
Red will not say “You are weak”.
Red will always say “You can do it. Never give up”.
Blue is a happy and independent boy.
He likes to make an appearance when you are cool and calm.
Or when you are rested and at peace.
Blue will make you feel cold.
Blue will destroy any anger in your body.
Blue will say “Take a deep breath”.
He will ask “Do you want to be mindful with me?”
He will not say “You are stormy”.
He will always be smooth and still.
Brown is a dirty and earthy boy.
He likes to make an appearance when you play with mud.
Brown will ask you “Do you like nature?”
He will say to everyone “Let’s eat chocolate cake”.
Brown’s brother Dusty is also old and natural.
Together they plan seeds and trees.
Brown will never say “You smell disgusting”.
He will always say “Do you want to play outside?”
Black is a dark and haunted girl.
She likes to make an appearance when you are scared and worried.
Or when you are upset.
Black will make you feel mysterious.
She will make you feel a bit evil.
She will say ‘Let’s spy on the others”.
Black will ask you “Do you think this is a dead end?”
Or “Do you think this is a bit creepy?”
Black’s sister is called White. She is the opposite of Black.
She is nice, peaceful and caring.
Together they fight colorfulness.
Black will not say “Let’s smile”.
She will always say “Let’s be daring and naughty”.
Purple is a Royal Princess and is half evil.
She loves to eat grapes and is wealthy.
Purple loves to make an appearance when you are at an elegant and fancy Ball.
Or when you are at the Spa.
Purple will make you feel graceful and sometimes worried.
She will make you become a famous artist.
Purple will say “I am the best Princess ever”.
She will ask “Do you think I am pretty?”
Purples sister Lilac is also magnificent, rich and girly.
Together they mix powerful colors.
Purple will not say “Hey you have to like Purple - not Black”.
Purple will always say “Make sure your bedroom is always clean and neat”.
