Math - Solving word problems

Many Grade 4 students have identified 'solving word problems' as something they need to practice.
To help these students develop problem solving strategies we will be working on word problems once a week in class in small groups.

We have been reading the question, identifying important words and drawing pictures to help us understand what the problem is. Some students have also been sharing how they solved the problem with the class

Sometimes the problem has many steps and we have to re read to understand what it is asking us to do.
