Creating a writing checklist

The students created a checklist of what a good script looks like.

Narrator describes the setting in intro comments

Beginning / intro, problem & solution

Interesting starting sentence - hook / sizzling start

Each character speaking is listed in left: Then what they are saying on right.

Unexpected events in story - to keep the reader interested. A twist

A good / exciting ending

Scenes in order

The Grade 4 students then went back to the scripts they wrote last week, ticked the sections they did well and noted the areas they need to improve.
