Familiarizing ourselves with graphs

This week we have been working with different types of graphs.
The students have collected data and presented it as a bar graph, pie chart and line graph.
We have also looked at graphs and interpreted the important information.

One way we have learned how to improve the accuracy and quality of our graphing is by having gallery walks and seeing how other students present their data.

We will revisit graphing later in the year. I just wanted to be sure the students were not faced with an unfamiliar graph in the ISA assessments in the coming weeks.

Fun facts from data we have collected this week in our class ...

  • 7 people in our class say football (soccer) is their favorite sport
  • 10 people selected dogs as their favorite animal
  • 5 people in our class love the color purple
  • 6 people in our class list cooking as their favorite interest / hobby
