Stepping into ‘The night cafe’

Through the eyes of G4 students / using prompt questions.

Students watched Inside Van Gogh’s painting (the night cafe) and imagined themselves in the cafe.

They used the lead questions we used earlier in the week to create their own poem.
Here are a few examples....

1880’s
Twilight
Two hours
Bright and shiny
Burning candles and lights
Freezing cold
Sadness all around
Sound of piano
Pretty flowers
Vincent Van Gogh
Pianist watching
Music changing
Beautifulness

BY PANHA

1800’s
Night in spring
I hour
Darkness
Cool music
Smell flowers
All alone
Nothing changing
Wasn’t happy

Many years ago
Very late at night
Slowly wondering
Bright stars
Cool temperature
Sad music
Pleasant aromas
People in cafe
Father is away
Sadness

BY SHELBY

1800’s
Stary, stary night
One hour
Burning hot candles
Warm and comfy
Classical piano music
Tasty coffee aroma
The pianist and me
Getting louder
The night coffee

BY BORANAY

1880’s
Late at night
thirty minutes
Candlelight
Hot
Silence, then music
man witnessing
mixed feelings

BY LEI JUN

Summer evening
Wondering for a moment
Candle light burning
Hot
Stars burning bright
Calm, soft music
Coffee aroma
Lonely chair
Dirty Alley
Music didn’t stop

BY NIKOR

In the 1880’s
Late night
5 minutes of exploring
Candles
Cold and misty
Music playing
Smell wood from old chairs
Pianist watching
The people have left

BT TEPPI

1766
Foggy, dark, cold night
One hour of peace
Candles and lamps
Romantic scenes
Shiverish, cold
Beautiful music
Smells of fresh nature
Vincent Van Gogh
Weather change
Starry night
Peace did not leave
Imagination and creativity
Amazing
Tremendous
