They selected words that were a lot more difficult and used dictionaries, thesaurus's and iPads to gather definitions, synonyms and antonyms. They gained a good understanding of their chosen words and wrote fabulous poems.
The students will work in groups creating movies showing their poems tomorrow.
Stupendous
Stupendous is an astonishing girl.
She likes to make an appearance in a disco, party or dance.
Stupendous will dance, sing and be outstanding.
She will say “I am like a diamond”
She will ask “do you have a diamond dress?”
Her sister Fantastic is amazing, miraculous and stupefying.
Together they combat unimpressive.
Stupendous will not be ordinary.
Stupendous will blow you mind.

Pungent
Pungent is a strong, sharp guy
He likes to make an appearance when
someone is eating something sour,
or when there is a strong smell.
Pungent will eat spicy stuff all the time.
He will say “I love salty foods”
He will ask “Do you have something bitter?’
Pungent’s sister Peppery has the same hot, stinking taste
Together they combat tasteless.
Pungent will not be pleasant
Pungent will be a bit wiffy
Shelby & Vattanak
Feisty
Feisty is a cranky, angry guy.
He likes to make an appearance when you are cross or angry.
He will fire you if you make a teeny weeny mistake.
“I will fire you” he says.
Feisty will ask “Are you with me my hearty’s?
His brother Fiery is also an angry ogre.
Together they combat fearful.
Feisty won’t be scared.
He will be angry.

Abandoned
Abandoned is a lonely forgotten little boy.
He likes to make an appearance when someone is left out.
He will cry and sit in a corner.
He will ask “Will you play with me?” with big puppy eyes.
His sister Eliminated is also discarded, deserted and dumped.
Together they combat committed.
Abandoned will not be defended.
Abandoned will be forsaken.

Accomplished is a brainy, talented guy.
He likes to make an appearance when he is finishing a task,
or when you achieve your goal.
Accomplished will be very proud of you.
He will say “Good job”.
He will ask “Are you finished everything?”
His sister Polished is also skillful, savy and cultivated.
Together they combat failure.
Accomplished will not fail.
Accomplished will successfully get the job done.

Humongous
Humongous is an extraordinarily large and gigantic guy.
He likes to make an appearance when there is something big,
or when he see’s someone large.
He will say “I like large people and materials”.
He will ask you “ Why are you so small?”
His sister Enormous is huge and massive.
Together they make tiny look massive.
They will never say they are small.
They will be proud as they are the masters.

Complex is a complicated boy.
He likes to make an appearance when he see’s something difficult,
or when something is too hard.
He will make you get stuck in a math problem.
He will say “ Answer the question”.
He will ask “Is it hard?”
His sister Intricate is also arduous, problematic and tricky.
Complex won’t say “Easy peasy Japanesey”.
He will make you stumble.
