Grade 4 Field Trip Permission Slip                                                                                    5 October, 2015

Dear Parents/Guardians of Grade 4 Students,

We have just started our second unit of inquiry. Our central idea is ‘Artistic expression is influenced by the society in which we live’. During the next six weeks the students will be learning about how artists in Cambodia express themselves and the relationship between artists and society.

On Friday 23 October we will visit the Asia Foundation (House #59, Street 242), to view the exhibition “Timepieces - Livelihood of Phnom Penh” by artist Phe Sophon and respond to his work. He creates art about everyday life in Phnom Penh and he will speak to the students about what influences him in his creations. We will return to school in time for lunch.

We have also invited many guest artists to visit the school to perform, show the students samples of their work and explain the messages behind their art. The students will speak to artists, observe different forms of art and write personal responses to these art forms. They will experiment with various art forms, make movies, take photographs and edit them for effect. They will create collages, sketch and write in different locations and learn ways they can use art to understand their world and express their feelings.

Please complete the attached permission slip and ask your child to return it to the class teacher by Friday 9 October, 2015.

Grade 4 Permission Slip - Exploring Art in Phnom Penh.
