Weekly homework - Due 15th August

Home Learning Activities Grade 4/5 – MS ALISON Due: Friday 15th August

Reading
  • You will read a book of your choice for 20 + minutes each day at home.
  • You will record your reading in a class reading log.
  • You can either record the book and pages you read (p56 - 79), or you can record the book and time you read (7.10 - 7.30).
  • Try to choose a book that is ‘just right’.
  • This week you will share what you have been reading this week and tell the class what you have enjoyed about the book.
Blog & email - Parent set up and Interview
Sit down in front of your computer with a parent or guardian. Log onto Ms. Alison’s Blog. http://isppgrade45msalisonsblog.blogspot.com/
  • Sign them up to follow the blog.
  • Have a look at all posts - including old posts.
  • What did your family think about it?
  • Send Ms. Alison an email with 3 sentences summarizing your family’s reaction to the blog. alisonstanton@ispp.edu.kh
Math - Place Value
  • Find interesting fact(s) about your home country that is bigger than 1 million.
  • eg. Vegetation covers nearly 7 million square kilometers or 91 percent of Australia.
  • We will be discussing and using these facts in class.

Writing
  • Imagine you are stranded on a deserted island.
  • Which three people would you like to have on the island for you?
  • You can chose someone who is dead or alive? You can know them personally or they can be famous.
  • For each person write a paragraph explaining why you chose that person? Do they have special qualities or skills? How will they help you or make you happy on the island.
  • Draw a portrait of each person next to the paragraph explaining why you chose them.

Oral presentation
  • On Friday you will share your interesting math fact about your home country and discuss the book you have been reading this week.
  • You will also read your 3 paragraphs explaining the people you chose to be with you on your deserted island. Make sure you have edited your writing and can read it loudly and fluently.

  • Tuesday 12th August - Bring your library books - book swap, PE
  • Tuesday 12th August - Swim placement 2.30 (new students), 3.15 (returning students)
  • Wednesday 13th August - Field trip the Wat Langka & PE
  • Thursday 14th August - Swimming
  • Friday 15th August - Homework due.
