Group challenges in PE

The Grade 4 students have been working in groups in PE. Solving problems, competing and working together on challenges.

The students will be adding pictures and comments to their blogs.

Adding using a number line / Jump counting

The Grade 4 students tried another addition strategy today.
They used a number line and jump counted in tens and then in ones to work out the answer.

We are not expecting students to draw up a number line each time they count but may jump count in hundreds, tens and ones using a number line as a visual to help them add two numbers.

Reviewing safe use of iPads at school

We worked with Mr Matt today reviewing safe tips for using the iPads at school.
How to be sure you have logged off iPads and can use them safely.

The students worked in small groups to demonstrate one of the rules of iPad use.
The audience had to guess which rule they were demonstrating.

Creating powerful and informative introductory sentences

We worked with Ms Marcelle today - learning how to create powerful sentences.
We worked as a class and created a descriptive sentence about a monster.

We then used this model to create sentences about the leaders we are current studying in class.
We shared our powerful sentences and will use these as we create our leader posters tomorrow.

Strategies to use when adding large numbers

The Grade 4 students will be trying different strategies they can use when adding large numbers this week.

Today we started with the break apart method.
The students tried a few addition problems using this method. Most found it very easy.

We will continue to explore other methods on Thursday and Friday.
