Organizing our research about Belief systems

The Grade 4 students are busy asking questions, reading books, researching on ISPP destiny, writing jot notes and finding the answers to the research questions for their chosen belief system.

Beliefs Poster / Report

Objective:  
To inform other class members about religions that interest you. We will use the information gathered to compare and contrast different religions.
RESEARCH GUIDELINES - BELIEF SYSTEM POSTER

Use subheadings, factual information in your own words and images to help the audience understand.

CORE BELIEFS
What are the followers core beliefs?
…. 5 Pillars / Ten Commandments?

ORIGINS & FOLLOWERS
How did the religion begin?
Who started it? When? How?
How many followers do they have worldwide?
Where do they have the strongest following?

GOD/S
Is this religion monotheistic / Polytheistic? Explain who they believe is God and why.

HOLY BOOKS / STORIES
Do they have Holy books? What are they called? How are they used  
How do they pass on their beliefs / stories?
Can you retell one of their stories?

RULES / PRACTICES
What are the important rules they try to follow?
Are there certain practices they do every day? Every week?
Are there dietary rules? Rules re dress?

CELEBRATIONS
Do they have special celebrations? Describe these ..

WORSHIP
Do they have a place of worship?
How do they prepare for worship/ worship?

SYMBOLS
What symbols are connected to this religion? Why?
Are there dietary rules? Rules re dress?

LIFE AFTER DEATH?
What do they believe happens to us after death?

Explain in detail what they think happens to our spirit?soul / body.

The students are organizing their findings into paragraphs in their own words.
They will share their findings with classmates next week and then use Venn diagrams to compare and contrast
