Here are examples of their ideas.
TOLERANCE
ISPP, Phnom Penh
Tolerance walked in the front door on Monday morning. She was smiling and talking to others about their religions. Tolerance asked questions to learn about some practices and listened carefully because she wanted to understand.
Tolerance believes that everyone is equal and has a right to have different ideas.
Tolerance would never be racist, judge others or be unfair.
Tolerance is accepting, patient and kind. Ms Paula the Elementary Principal stated “Tolerance is an excellent role model for our younger students”
When asked to explain her behavior Tolerance said “It is just my way of understanding others. I want to be friends with everyone”.

OPEN MINDED
ISPP, Phnom Penh
Open-minded came to school gently, ready to make a difference. He saw a group of kids teasing someone who does not believe the same as they do.
Open-minded said “ You should try to accept them. It is not wrong, it is just different”.
Thanks to him the school has become more caring. The students look after each other and grow in their International mindedness.
Principal Mr Jihwan said he was very happy all the students were being more like Open -minded. The school was a friendlier place because students accepted their differences. “This is a school where students truly accept the people around them”.
Soon Open-minded had taught the whole world to be open minded. There were no longer any major problems when people started to consider other people and have an open mind.

TOLERANCE
ISPP, Phnom Penh
Tolerance strolled into school on Friday. He saw a little girl from Grade 2 arguing with her friend. The little girl asked Tolerance to help her come up with movie ideas.
Tolerance said ‘Yes, of course’. He listened to what they wanted. The girl said she wanted to be a Princess. Her friend said she did not want to be Princesses in the story.
Tolerance calmly suggested that maybe they be fair and come up with a compromise.
“ How about you choose your own characters and then write a story which includes both characters”. The Grade 2 students thought this was a great idea.
They sat down and started planning their story about a Princess and Superman.

ACCEPTANCE
ISPP, Phnom Penh
At ISPP a very peaceful day was planned …
In Ms Alison’s class the students were being put into groups. Many children were protesting about who they were with because they wanted to work with their friends. Acceptance was not disagreeing at all. She listened to the students argue and disagree with each other.
Disbelief had an idea and it was not a bright one. He shared it with the class. The problem was everyone thought it was a good idea. Acceptance did not agree and quietly told the class she thought it would not work. She was kicked under the table and decided to go along with the plan. She accepted reluctantly and waited for the activity to start.
Later when the students were sharing their work it was clear that many were not enjoying the experience. Acceptance had agreed so that everyone in the class would be happier but realised that sometime you can offer alternatives. You can listen to another person’s idea and accept the person but do not always have to agree.
When she spoke to Ms Paula she explained that she wanted everyone to have a bit of joy. Acceptance wanted to learn from the situation and help other students in the classroom.

EMPATHY
ISPP, Phnom Penh
Empathy rushed into school and heard a kid crying in the playground. He saw a child bleeding from his forehead. He asked she “What happened to your head?”
The girl said “Someone pushed me into the wall and my head keeps bleeding”.
Empathy remembered when he had hit his head and told the girl he understood. He started to walk with her to the nurse when suddenly the girl fainted.
Empathy held her and said “Hey kid” and she started to wake up. He quickly carried her to the nearest nurse who was luckily only two steps away. Empathy pushed the door open and said the the nurse “This little girl has hurt her head and fainted”.
The nurse was having a hard day. The clinic was very busy and she was feeling stressed. Empathy could understand that feeling and said “I can see you are busy but please help this girl, she is in great danger”.
The girl was pale as Empathy carried her to the bed. The nurse checked her wound and bandaged her head. She said “Thank-you Empathy”. Empathy said “I have been in this situation before and wanted to help”.

TOLERANCE
ISPP, Phnom Penh
Tolerance is a kind and strong boy. One day he stormed through the hall and found a girl crying. He started to ask her questions, two questions to be exact.
He said “What is your name?” and “Are you okay?” The girls responded I got bullied today. I wanted to play on the roundabout but got pushed off”.
Tolerance made a connection to when he used to get pushed off the roundabout and cried.
He told her this had happened to him. Tolerance listened to her as she told her story. He agreed it was unfair and said people need to be more aware of the feelings of other people.
Tolerance is always fair. He is is not weak or narrow minded.
They sat together until the girl stopped sobbing. She hugged Tolerance and they went to play together.

EMPATHY
ISPP, Phnom Penh
Empathy was strolling through the Middle school on her first day. She looked around and admired the school. She walked through the hallway and saw someone being picked on by a bully. Empathy remembered people being mean in her old school and ran to the little girl. The bully ran away.
“Are you okay?” asked Empathy. “I am always being picked on” the little girl replied.
“What is your name?” asked Empathy. “I am Gloomy” said the little girl.
“I am Empathy. I understand. That is how I felt when I was bullied in my old school”. “Really” replied Gloomy.
The Principal Ms Brown saw the whole thing. She came to support the young girl with Empathy and get more information. “Empathy really understands and loves making connections in the school”. Ms Brown said she would be having a word with the bully and make sure they are aware that bullying is not tolerated in our school. “I want our school to be Bully free and Empathy really helped with one of our younger students today”.

On Monday morning Tolerance played with everyone in the playground. He made sure he didn’t leave anyone out.
Later in the classroom he was kind and shared all of his equipment with other students. He listened to other people and respected their beliefs even if they were different to hs own.
Tolerance does not disapprove or make other people feel excluded.
Tolerance always works hard, finishes his work and works well in groups.
When Intolerance challenged his to a fight he said “I accept that you are different from me. There is no need to fight”.

EMPATHY
ISPP, Phnom Penh
Empathy came to school on Monday morning and found a new student crying. He asked the student “Are you okay?” “No, I am lonely” the new student replied.
Then Empathy made a connection. He thought about when he was new and lonely six years ago. Empathy asked the new boy if he wanted to play with him and meet some new friends. The new student smiled and agreed.
The new student’s name was Jeffery. Jeffery and Empathy walked together to the classroom. Empathy introduced Jeffery to all his friends.
One of his other friends told Empathy that he had just got a new phone. He was so excited. Empathy remembered feeling the same way. He smiled at his friend and let him explain all the features. The group of students all walked into class together.
