Reading with a purpose

We worked with Ms Rachel - our new Library teacher today.
Ms Rachel brought a book to share about Farmer Will Allen.
The students made predictions about whether the book is fiction or non-fiction and explained their thinking.

Ms Rachel then started to read the story.
For each page we discussed the important information.
On page one 'when he talks people listen' and 'he can see what others cannot see' were both important.

They told us important information about Will Allen. The students discussed that he sounds like a good communicator and a creative thinker with a good ideas.

We will continue reading the story and writing jot notes ... in our own words next week.
This will be an important skill when we are researching in coming weeks.
