Piecing together a procedure

The students worked in pairs piecing together exemplars of procedural writing.

They were given 20 + pieces of paper and had to reconstruct the procedure so that it made sense.
The students had to read each piece and discuss with their partner where it belonged in the procedure.

Here are four procedures they completed. Some simple and some more difficult.

  • How to boil water
  • How to make pecan apple crumble cake
  • How to make recycled paper
  • How to fix a bicycle puncture
We will refer to these tomorrow and use the class checklist to check for accuracy.
We will also start writing our own procedures.
