Compare your day

Today the students recorded what they did all day Wednesday and compared it with the day of 12 year old Lawrence. Lawrence is the oldest son in a child headed household in Africa.

Some of their reflections ...

I had a shower and washed my hair in the morning. Lawrence only had enough water to wash his face.

I had a breakfast, Lawrence had no food.

I put on clean, ironed clothes from a large selection in my wardrobe. Lawrence was wearing the only clothes he owns.

I got up and watched TV, Lawrence worked in the vegetable garden for an hour before he woke the rest of the family.

I was driven to school. Lawrence walked to school.

At school I have AC, computers, electricity and lots of specialist classes. Lawrence does not.

For lunch I had Sushi, Lawrence had porridge.

I stay at school all day. Lawrence works in the middle of the day to try to get some money of food for his family.

In the afternoon I go home and do piano, craft club, play video games, read, watch TV, play sport. Lawrence gardens, fetches firewood, and cooks.
