Exploring electrical energy and magnetic force

The students worked together to find out how to create simple circuits and parallel circuits.
They also showed curiosity when they explored how magnetic force works (push / pull)  and watched clips on Brain pop that related to the energy forms they are interested in.

Class read - Characters in the City of Ember

We are halfway through our class read 'City of Ember' and the plot is getting interesting.

Lina has found instructions that she thinks were made by the builders. They were damaged but she is trying to piece them together. She thinks the instructions may help them get out of Ember. The residents of Ember are getting scared. The light is going out more frequently and they know they cannot survive if the generator stops working.

As a class we looked at the map of the city and tried to decipher what the instructions might mean. We also discussed all the main characters and visualized what they look like from their descriptions in the book.

Independent research

The students watched Brain pop information clips about Energy.
They wrote down key points and questions that they have about these forms of energy.
They are starting to think about which form of energy they would like to explore further.

If you want to continue watching energy clips please click on Brainpop link brainpop
