Here is Tasha's example. Her script is about Endangered animals - Orangutans in Malaysia.
She incorporated facts about Orangutans, reasons why they are endangered, perspectives of different parties and also entertained us.
Well done Tasha.
Orangutan Puppet show By Tasha
Orangutan, John, Dave and Narrator
Narrator- Once upon a time there was a city named Starfur City. It was filled with bustling people and there were lots of huge National parks near the city center. Everybody in the city loved animals except for Dave.
Dave- Stupid Animals, stupid creatures, everything is stupid. I’ve got an idea I’ll go cut some trees and use the wood to sell it for fuel, shelter and other materials.
Narrator- Dave was reading a book about Orangutans that he found on the floor. He wanted to read it because he wanted to research about Orangutans, about what they look like and their behavior.
Dave- This book says that Orangutans can only be found in Borneo, and Sumatra in Indonesia and they look like reddish or brownish coloured. They are primates and they eat lots of things like, fruit, leaves, bark and insects.
Narrator- So off Dave went with a Chainsaw in one of his hands. When Dave arrived at the park, he saw lots of people jogging. One of them was named John. John is the boss of Orangutan foundation international, OFI for short.
OFI protect Orangutans and are trying to stop them from being endangered. They are trying to stop big companies from cutting down rainforests to grow palm oil. This is a big problem in Malaysia because 85% of palm oil is currently grown in Malaysia. OFI also rescue captive orangutans and try to educate people about the dangers orangutans face.
Dave- Oh no its John! I have to run and hide.
Narrator- Dave saw a nearby bush, and he ran towards it. John jogged past the bush
John- La la la la la. What’s that rustling noise?
Narrator- Dave saw another bush so he ran towards it.
John- Hello! Hummph No One's there, I’ll continue walking.
Narrator- Dave ran towards a tree and looked around to make sure no one was watching. He held his chainsaw and boom he cut off a tree.
Dave- Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
Narrator- Dave knew that Orangutans were dying because of habitat loss and because they were being hunted, but he didn’t care. Dave didn’t realize that someone was watching it was an Orangutan! Oh and a fact about Orangutans, they are one of the great apes because they’re huge size and because of their great intelligence.
Orangutan- Oh no our lives are in danger! I have to warn the other Orangutans!
These humans keep cutting down our homes. We have nowhere to live and get food. My family is dying. We are being captured and starving.
Narrator- The Orangutan warned all the other Orangutans about what was going on. And while that was happening Dave hired some men to lift the tree into the truck. And he left. After Dave left, John ran past the ruined tree, whistling. He turned around and saw the tree. I mean what’s left of it.
John- Oh my gosh, I need to contact the OFI headquarters immediately. He looked at the tree next to it and saw a male Orangutan.
Narrator- Sorry to interrupt, just saying Orangutans eat fruit, leaves, bark and insects. Orangutans walk on the ground in long distances sometimes. Because smaller trees can’t support their weight. Baby orangutans stay with their mothers for the first 7 - 11 years of their life. The infant rides on its mother’s body and sleeps in her nest until it is able to survive on its own.
John- OFI headquarters we have a chainsawer on the loose.
Ok, great plan. I’m gonna set up a trap. We need lots of string and a camera.
When the chainsaw dude trips over it the camera will take a picture of him.
Narrator: Dave came back during the night.
Dave- I’ll chop down this tree. Oh no I tripped.
Narrator- he heard a click and the light blinded him and he ran away squealing. John came back the very next day. John jogged towards his trap and viewed the picture. He analyzed it and it said was Dave. John asked people if they knew where Dave lived. They told him his address and John ran to his house.
John- (Knock on door)
Dave- Who is it?
John- Just open up!
Dave- (Opens door)
John- You are under arrest sir!
Dave- For what?
John- For cutting down trees and endangering Orangutans!
Narrator- Orangutans is Malay for person of the forest. A century ago there were more than 230,000 Orangutans in the wild. Now more than ¾ of this population has been killed by poachers and have starved to death because they have lost their habitats, their homes and have nothing to eat or drink.
Back to our story …. Dave was arrested and the Orangutans were safe and lived happily ever after.
THE END!!!!!
