Creating an infomercial to sell a word

The Grade 4 students worked with Ms Marcelle and myself to create a class infomercial today.

The students watched an example 'KaPow' and thought of the persuasive words and phrases that were used. They worked together coming up with an infomercial for the word ENTHUSIASM.
The students will work in small groups tomorrow to write their own infomercial. They will be selling one of the words we need to understand in our Marketplace unit.

They started by thinking of all the things enthusiasm is and all the things it is not. 

ENTHUSIASM Can/ is/ will/ does

• Positive
• Makes us feel happy
• Makes us excited
• It lifts your spirits
• Interested
• Hyped
• fun/ makes you smile
• Might say ‘can’t wait!!!!
• Keeps you going
• Motivated
• Is enthusiastic
• Will make you jump with joy
• Gives you a natural high
• Turns your frown upside down!
• Make you want to fly
• ENERGY

ENTHUSIASM cannot/ isn’t/ won’t/ doesn’t

• Will never be sad
• Will not upset people
• Never get bored
• Won’t kill you
• Not mad or angry
• Will not make you depressed/ down in the dumps/ 
• Will not make you frown
• Will not make you fall down
• Not weak or lifeless
• You don’t need chemicals (this is a natural high!)
• Feel lonely
• laziness

They then used sentence starters from the example to create this infomercial...
