Ms Marcelle read a passage by Roald Dahl which contains many 'made up words'. We discussed what these words might mean and came up with some interesting definitions.
The students then used word parts to create their own original words.
They wrote the definitions of their new word and placed in on the mat.
Students then read the word and their peers tried to guess the definition that matched the word.
Each student chose one word from our list and thought of a way they could use it in a sentence.
Ie: "I have a bit of a tummy nobbler today".
In the coming weeks we will continue to work with words. We will be discussing how words originate.
We will also think about how we can use prefixes and suffixes to work out the meaning of a word.
