Mathematics
This week you will play a fraction game with a friend, parent or sibling using a deck of cards (no picture cards).
How to play;
  • Deal 4 cards to yourself and your partner
  • Make the largest fraction you can by choosing a numerator and a denominator from their 4 cards
  • Compare fractions with your partner. The one with the larger fraction wins all the cards and becomes the dealer for the next round.
  • If the fractions are equal you both keep your cards.
  • The game continues until one person wins all the cards.

UOI: Reflecting on Art show
This Monday we will be visiting the ISPP Grade 12 Art show.
Select one of the pieces of art you looked at and write a short reflection
Include:
  • The name of the artwork and the artist
  • How did you feel when you viewed this artwork?
  • Why do you think the artist chose to make this piece of art?
  • Is there a message?
  • What is the relationship between society and the artwork?
  • What medium did the artist use?
  • Why do you think they chose this medium?
When you have finished your reflection and edited your writing, post it on your blog with a picture of the artwork.

UOI: Writing Haiku’s
This week we will be writing Haikus in class.
Think of the steps we took and try to write your own Haiku.
Present your Haiku (6 lines) on an A4 sheet of paper with a title, border and picture.

Remember a Haiku is made up of an unrhymed verse in three lines.
The first line has five syllables, the second line has seven syllables and the third line has five syllables.
Example: based on the play we did last week - ‘The boy who drew cats’
An artist at heart
The boy struggles to be true
To his own nature

Oral Presentation:
This week you will share your Haiku and your reflection with the class.
We will also play the fractions card game in class, so you might want to practice a few times at home.
