Home Learning Activities Grade 4/5 – MS ALISON Due: Friday 19th September

	Reading Read a book of your choice for 20+ minutes each day at home.
	Unit of Inquiry reflection - Learner Profile Attributes Being caring, open-minded and reflective are the three learner profile attributes we are focusing on during our current unit of inquiry about Belief Systems. Write three paragraphs, one for each attribute. In each paragraph describe a time when you have displayed/shown this attribute outside the classroom. Write your paragraphs on your blog. Your will share your writing later in the week.
	Math - goals Last week we wrote Math goals for Semester one. You identified your strengths, challenges and came up with a list of ways you can work towards achieving your goals. This week you Math homework is to complete tasks that will help you achieve you goal. In your homework book is a Math strategies table. For each day record what math tasks you completed.
	Belief systems - research Next week is the Pchum Ben celebration in Cambodia. Your task is to research and find out all you can about this celebration. You can use primary sources and interview people who are knowledgeable about Pchum Ben. You can also use secondary sources - books and the internet to find out more information. Take notes in your homework book and then present your findings on a poster. Your poster will show your understanding of the reasons Pchum Ben is celebrated, common rituals and personal connections.
	Writing - Sign Language Last week was International Deaf Awareness Week and you learnt some sign language. Now it’s time for you to spend 20 minutes teaching someone sign language. Take a photo and send it or share it with Ms.Alison
	Oral presentation On Friday you will share the math strategies you used with the class. If it is a new multiplication or mental math game you can teach us. You will also share the information you learned about Pchum Ben.
