Practicing skills with specialist teachers

The Grade 4 students have been thinking of ways they can be more creative by trying new animation apps, creating story boards and experimenting in small groups.

They have also been thinking about how to gather information. We have been working with Ms Rachel and thinking about how we select questions that will help our inquiry. Sometimes they are 'thin questions' and have a very specific answer. Other times they are 'thick questions' and we need to research to find the answer.

We have also been thinking about how we can get the best from our guest speakers or when we listen to experts when on field trips. We discussed active listening, creating a movie in our head, thinking of questions to clarify our understanding and note-taking.

We practiced taking notes in class today when we watched a segment of the Islam belief system DVD. The students tried to write key words and main points. They listened to what was being siad and then paraphrased the important information.
