Thank you to Ms Cheryl for visiting us today and telling us about her daughter Christine's experience.
Christine was born premature and was in hospital for 40 days. When she was 4 months old her family noticed she did not focus on objects of people. Her vision is impaired and she can only make out rough shapes and light / dark shades.
Christine started school when she was 6 and started to learn to read using Braille books. She also writes using the grid Lyka showed us yesterday. If she makes a mistake she has to rewrite the whole line as she cannot erase a bump on the page.
Christine is now in Grade 8 and her dream is to be a music teacher.
Some students in the class have met Christine and heard her perform on the piano. They said she is very talented.
