Today Ms Janne from Tabitha came to visit us to talk about leaders and about Tabitha. Ms Janne is the founder of Tabitha. Tabitha is an organization that helps poor people in Cambodia. Two hero's that inspired Janne are Nelson Mandela and Mother Teresa.
The name Tabitha comes from the bible. A lady named Tabitha helped poor people so Ms Janne called her organization Tabitha.
Tabitha has helped 467,046 families in Cambodia. They have installed 17,753 wells and the volunteers have built 9,222 houses. Tabitha has also helped to build 66 schools in the past 4 years.
One of the biggest problems is that when women or men get sick they have to sell the land or animals to pay for medicine. Sometimes they even have to sell their children. Tabitha is building a hospital for women that have diseases like cancer and need treatment.

Ms Janne has set up a saving program.
The families save 25c a week and after ten weeks they have $2.50. Tabitha give them 10% so their total is $2.75. With this money they can buy 5 chickens.
The family keep saving and after another ten weeks they have another $2.75. They can also sell the chickens for $10 each. Now they have $52.75.
This means they can buy some rice and clothes and 20 chickens. They keep saving and after another 10 weeks they also sell the chickens for $10 each. Now have more than $200 and can buy a well and a water pump. Once they have access to water they can grow vegetables, more crops and have clean, safe drinking water.
