Thinking and sharing ideas

The Grade 4 students reflected on their understanding of key words in our new unit.
We started with the word community. The students worked on their own and thought about the colour, symbol and image that comes to mind when the think of the word. they discussed their ideas with partners and shared their main ideas with the class.

This shared understanding helped the students as they re-read the Central idea and then wrote it in their own words.
