They have used Brain pop and Brittanica to find out about their chosen energy source.
They tried to answer the following questions about their source.
- What is it?
- Where is it found / created?
- How is it used to create energy?
- What are the advantages of this energy form?
- What are the disadvantages of this energy form?
The students found images and labelled diagrams to support their answers. They put all their information on a poster and shared it with their peers in small groups. They then rotated and listened to other students share their research findings.
The Grade 4 student asked questions to consolidate their understanding and then wrote about the energy source they think is the best and justified their answer.
Next week the students will do further research. They will select an energy form they want to find out more about. They will write research questions, look for reliable websites and record their findings. They will also think of ways they can help explain how the energy form works to their peers. They may chose to make a model, do an experiment, draw diagrams, use an app ie Explain everything, make a poster or a short film.
